I cannot seem to wrap my mind around the simple concept. In a conversation with somebody I care for dearly, I mentioned how the power of prayer, or the power of God, could possibly be enough to cleanse a woman’s body of cancer. Their response was to say that the cancer would not entirely disappear; the woman would merely go into remission.
I did not know how to take the answer. Were they suggesting that God cannot work outside natural law? (I do not know. I suppose I should take it up with them.) &

Yet I am far better off than she, with my bleached skin and small nails, unruly hair, a bathing suit that is far too small, but much too big for my strange frame.
Echo was beautiful, and did not love herself; how else does Narcissus serve a purpose? He loved himself enough for the two of them.

For a moment, I drifted back to childhood days, but was quickly swept back to reality, the shine of my car, waiting in the driveway, and the people who awaited my arrival at work. They stole me away, a little effort on their part.
